The Just Shall Live Faith

For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes for the Jew first and also for the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, the just shall live by faith. [Romans 1:16-17].

The gospel of Christ is good news!

It’s good news because righteousness comes by faith alone. We do not have to earn it. In fact, we can’t. Jesus already earned it for us. He took our place on the cross so we could start fresh (spiritually born again with a new heart) just as if we had never sinned.

[To make sure we understand what sin is, God gave us His law and a conscience that bothers us when we knowingly disregard His commands. The Ten Commandments tell us very clearly what God expects of us. He commands that we have no other gods, make no images to worship and don’t take His Name in vain. He commanded Israel to remember the Sabbath and keep it holy. He requires that we honor our parents. He forbids murdering, adultery, stealing, lying and coveting. And when these commands are publicly displayed people live better. That’s why Satan wants them hidden away.]

When our hearts are renewed we are able to live a righteous life by following His example. We are not instantly perfect in thought and action, but our spirit is perfected in relationship with the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit, because we have become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. We are free to choose to do the right thing! And, as we walk in love and spend time in the Word and prayer, we grow in the knowledge of the truth and mature in the likeness of Christ.

In sharing the gospel we will see the power of God to salvation. The Word of God spread abroad like good seeds will not fail to produce a crop, by the grace of God. And, those who sow the Word into the lives of others will reap blessings, as Isaiah tells us. Blessed are those who sow beside all waters, who send out freely the feet of the ox and the donkey [Isaiah 32:20].

The righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith, as it is written, the just shall live by faith. Living by faith is not only an ultimate promise of eternal life, but also the way to live our daily lives in this present world. We also live by faith now. The Holy Spirit brings the Word of God from our hearts into our minds and leads us in the paths of righteousness. As we follow His scripture based promptings by faith and do what is right our Heavenly Father takes care of us and our faith grows. Faith leads to more faith like walking on stepping stones till we safely reach the other side.

The enemy of our souls is busy trying to keep us away from the Holy Bible. He wants us weak. He wants us deceived. He wants us discouraged. He wants us ignorant. He wants us faithless. Frankly, he wants us to go to Hell. And it is not because he wants to spend time with us. It is because he hates God! We are made in God’s image so he hates us too! He covets our relationship with God.

Contrary to some popular Christian videos, Hell is not Satan’s throne room, his party house, or his headquarters. He doesn’t live there now and will not be the ruler of Hell later. He will receive the greatest torment possible because he is the father of sin. He was the first rebel! The first sinner. The first liar. The first murderer. He is the lawless one. Since the beginning of creation he has been the father of all who follow him in rebellion against Yehovah God. And the Word of God tells us how to escape from his destructive influence.

Therefore, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. Draw near to God and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up [James 4:7-10].

This is a good word. Please respond to it. God promises to lift up (exalt) all those who will humble themselves and turn from their wicked (like the devil) ways. Wherever you are, whatever you have done, Jesus is with you and will respond if you call on Him. But time is getting short. The end of the Church Age is near. The signs of the times abound. The world is being shaken as a warning siren. Please pay attention and turn to Jesus while you have the chance. Today is the day of salvation. Jesus loves you.

There is no charge for this great salvation. It is offered freely to all mankind because Jesus paid for it in full on the cross of Calvary. Please put your trust in Him.

And this brings us back to where we started.

The just shall LIVE (now and forever) by faith.

May the Lord add His blessing to His Word and draw you to Himself today. Amen

Love Overcomes

God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind [2 Tim. 1:6-7].

Greetings in Jesus to my Friends around the world!

As you know, we are living in perilous times. Dangers abound and truth is hard to come by if you are looking outside of the Word of God. Jesus warned us that these times would come and told us not to be deceived! If it doesn’t line up with the Word of God, it is a lie. Do not believe it.

The propaganda concerning a certain virus is a deception. There have been viruses throughout human history. It was never necessary to shut down churches and make healthy people stay in their homes. When the truth comes out it will be shown to be just another flu causing virus which a healthy immune system can defeat in conjunction with medicines that are readily available. If it’s anything worse than that, it has been lab created to cut down the world population and we cannot trust in a cure coming from those who created the problem.

The enemy is roaring like a lion. Believers should ignore the roar and keep trusting in the promises of God and sharing faith. The signs are telling us Jesus is coming very soon.

Fear is from Satan. God has not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind [2 Tim. 1:6-7].

We need to be bold as lions! We need to stand up for our religious freedom, our freedom of expression and our freedom to assemble as we please. Pastors should never have stopped meeting with their congregations and should reopen their churches immediately. Many lives are being lost because of the shutdown. Cooperating with evil emboldens and empowers it.

Forsaking not the assembling of yourselves together [Heb 10:25]. Greet one another with a holy kiss [2 Cor 13:12]. (Or at least a handshake! lol) That’s the Word of God.

God gave us immune systems and wants us to freely show love for others. Lack of human contact is more deadly than hugging and shaking hands.

Islam keeps its women covered to show their submission. We are being told to wear masks to show our submission. The tyrants can easily tell who has fallen for their lies when they see the masks being worn outside and in public places. You are meant to be free. If you are healthy take off those masks and get the fresh air your body needs to keep its immune system healthy.

Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength and mind [Luke 10:27]. We love Him because He first loved us and nothing can separate us from His love. He will carry us through to the end.

Love your neighbor as yourself. [Mark 12:31]. Yes, that includes our enemies. God loved us when we were His enemies. He wants us to act like Him. Our enemies are deceived deceivers. Pray for them and do good. Some of them will be saved.

Overcome evil with good! [Rom 12:21]. Don’t let evil triumph by doing nothing.

Grace and peace to those who love the Lord Jesus Christ. May you be rapture ready and strengthened to endure whatever comes before the rapture.

Our Heavenly Father, Yehovah God, is faithful.

For those who don’t know Jesus as Savior there is still time to get right with God. Listen to the still small voice you hear when His Word is shared. Harden not your heart. Respond to Him in faith and He will give you a new heart, the love of God and eternal life. Today is your day. He’s waiting for you.

Glorious and Gracious, Heavenly Father, may Your Spirit woo and win those who have eyes to see, ears to hears and the desire to give their lives to you roday. Thank you, Father, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Who killed Alice Louise Lee?

The Handy Candy Man is a non-fiction, historical, biographical, crime novel about the life of a pedophile who was known to have molested young girls for decades before he murdered seven-year-old Alice Louise Lee. Many knew but none spoke up.

Alice Lee went missing before noon, without a trace, from Swan’s Bean Yard in Trent, Oregon on August 29th. 1960. It was a shock to the small farm community and it spread throughout the countryside and then the country. How could it have happened in such a close knit community in broad daylight? The mystery struck fear into the hearts of the residents of Lane County and quickly changed the carefree, friendly culture into one of caution and suspicion. For three weeks they were left wondering what happened to Alice Lee. And for sixty years now they’ve been asking, “Who killed her?”

This fascinating narrative started as a simple quest to find the name of the killer and grew into a biography which explains where he came from, and tries to gives some insight into who he was. It clearly shows that individuals have a free will. The best of parents can raise a child who goes his own way and does not conform to family values or societal norms.

The quest for finding a killer after the case grows cold becomes exponentially more difficult. Especially in a casr where the physical evidence was not properly stored and there’s no reliable DNA evidence to examine. The murderer is long dead. How can the truth be found and brought to light? In this cold case, the resolution of the crime hinged on confessions, and on the truth buried in documents not available to the public until the Freedom of Information Act made them accessible.

The Handy Candy Man is solidly based on information found in newspaper articles and archived documents (family letters, Walla Walla Penitentiary records, Lane County Oregon police reports and court proceedings, Oregon State Hospital records, reports, medical tests and evaluations), genealogical research, historical research, eyewitness testimonies and, yes, confessions.

The Handy Candy Man is a story about the lives of real people in authentic locations. The names of the main characters are accurate. However, situations, conversations, thoughts, and some fictional characters have been added to enrich and advance the storyline. It stays as close to reality as possible, using fiction to fill in gaps consistent with the known facts.

The truth shared in this book is more than just telling the world what happened to Alice Louise Lee and the Handy Candy Man. There are life lessons to be learned. It shares an astounding example of the danger of keeping secrets. Caretakers are encouraged to make sure children are properly supervised at all times; even in public places considered safe. And it reveals the dastardly practices of sociopathic pedophiles.

It is also a spiritual book. Alice Lee loved Jesus. Her parents were devoted Christians and the parents of the killer were too. This book is filled with references to God and the church because many of the real people in the story were Christians or at least attended church.

It’s about a time when the United States of America was clearly identified as a Christian nation and not ashamed to say so. A time before unpatriotic leftists corrupted our public school systems by banning God, the Ten Commandments and prayer.

The book discusses the age old question of who is to blame when bad things happen to people. If you aren’t a Bible scholar or a theologian who has already given that issue deep thought, it may broaden your perspective for the good and perhaps help you deal with anger, bitterness, lack of forgiveness, or grief in a more productive manner. It will, no doubt, share the truth about some of the most important issues in life.

Islam Is Not A Religion Of Peace

With ISIS in the news so frequently now, I decided to repost a portion of a blog I wrote in 2011 called Islam’s Days Are Numbered. So, here it is.

Contrary to all the reassuring voices abroad in the land today, Islam is not a religion of peace. Rather, it is a tool of the devil. Islam will have no peace with any other belief system, religious or otherwise, because Islam demands submission from all to Allah and his requirements. And since even Muslims differ about what those requirements are, they can’t even make peace among themselves– much less will they ever bring peace to the world. Again, Islam is not a religion of peace.

Islam not only lacks peace, it also lacks the freedom it purports to offer. According to Islam, its followers are freed from all the requirements of other religions and the traditions of men. The catch is, all the world must live under the Sharia Law of Allah, and those laws are strictly enforced with all the authority of the government.

Yes, Islam is a tyrannical religious/political system. It favors Muslim males. Its laws are especially hard on women and Non-Muslims (second class citizens who are denied basic human rights and only allowed to live as long as they honor and obey Muslims, and pay the special taxes required of them), but no one is truly safe under such a system. Corrupt officials endanger the lives of all who find themselves subject to Sharia Law and there is no higher authority to appeal to.

Islam not only lacks peace and freedom, it fails to place a high value on human life. Islam is not grounded in moral teachings from a God who values all human life. Rather, it is a religion that glorifies death! Its adherents rejoice when “unbelievers” perish. And, they celebrate the death of their own who die killing others. Untold millions have already perished globally in the 1400 years since this bloody, tyrannical system arose in the desert land of the Hagarites, known today as Saudi Arabia. How many more will be destroyed before the light finally conquers this malignant force of darkness?

Islamic Jihadists kill without provocation. They kill randomly and they kill based on the clear teachings of the Quran and as the obedient warriors of Allah. They are not Islamic extremists. They are actually Islamic fundamentalists. In fact, imitating their prophet, they kill without compassion or remorse and even rejoice in the name of their god; before, during and after their deadly attacks.

And,  Jihadists believe they are blessed for the murders they commit. Those who die in the act of killing are martyrs and are promised they will bypass any suffering in hell and go straight into the arms of 72 virgins prepared especially for them. They also hope to be able to deliver 70 close relatives from hell, as well. That’s a powerful incentive! (Without Jesus to save them, they have no other hope of avoiding suffering.)

What god makes promises of such base sensual gratification to his followers for laying down their lives to murder unsuspecting innocents who are given no opportunity to repent? It’s not a loving God like Yahweh, of the Holy Bible, Who is “not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance!” It sounds more like the being described by Jesus when He said, Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy.” Who but Satan could be behind such a deceptive, destructive religious/political system?

Yes, Satan is the god and father of Islam. He, like a roaring lion, goes about seeking whom he may devour.

The world will have no peace until Jesus Christ, the Jewish Prince of Peace, comes to conquer the destroyer and beat the swords into plowshares as He rules the world in peace from Jerusalem. That’s why Satan, working through Islam, hates Israel and seeks to destroy it. But don’t worry, Islam’s days are numbered and Jesus is coming soon!

The ONLY Begotten Son of God?

When speaking of “the only begotten Son of God,” there may be some confusion as to what the term means. Angels are called the sons of God and born again believers are called the sons (or children) of God. But, only Jesus is called “the only begotten Son of God.” Why is that?

First of all, we must know what begotten means. The English word begotten is commonly used to refer to procreation: the fathering of children in a biological sense. This biological connection between human generations means the father and his child or children are genetically related. They are of the same species and share the same physical and spiritual makeup. They often even look alike. However, this understanding of begotten is not sufficient to explain what begotten means when used to express the connection between Jesus and God the Father. Why? Because it does not include the full meaning of the Greek word monogenes which is used in the Greek New Testament and from which begotten is translated.

Monogenes, according to the Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament has two definitions.

First, monogenes pertains to “being the only one of its kind within a specific relationship.” Monogenes is used in this way when Isaac is called Abraham’s “only begotten son” in Hebrews 11:17. In case you don’t know or have forgotten, the book of Genesis tells us that Abraham had eight sons. He begat Ishmael with Hagar. He begat Isaac with Sarah. And, he begat Zimran, Jokshan, Medan, Midian, Ishbak and Shuah with Keturah. (Yes, the Middle East is populated with Abraham’s descendants!) But, Isaac was accurately called Abraham’s only begotten son in the Hebrews statement because Isaac was the only son he had by Sarah and the only son of the covenant.

Note: Hebrews 11:17 is probably one of the scriptures critics use to point out mistakes in the Bible. It just goes to show that one must diligently study to avoid wrong conclusions!

Second, monogenes pertains to “being the only one of its kind or class, unique in kind.”

Monogenes is used with this meaning by Jesus when He said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

Contrary to what some believe, begotten/monogenes does not imply that Jesus had a beginning. No, the Bible clearly teaches that Jesus exists from eternity with the Father and the Holy Spirit. So, the English term “only begotten” is simply used to highlight the fact that Jesus shares the divine nature as the unique Son of God.

This second meaning of monogenes is also used in 1 John 4:9; John 1:14, 18 and John 3:18 These scripture verses reveal the truth I’m sharing with you. Please meditate on their clear meaning as you can understand it now.

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him.   1 John 4:9   NKJV

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.  John 1:14 NKJV

No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.   John 1:18 NKJV

These verses say God the Father “sent” Jesus to us and “gave” Jesus to save us from our sins. They never say God created Jesus. He existed eternally with His Father as many verses tell us.

Jesus, as God, created all things that are in heaven and earth! In the book of Isaiah, Jesus is called Wonderful (full of wonders!), Counselor (full of wisdom), Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.

In the book of Revelation He declares Himself to be the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end!

Jesus is never simply called “the begotten Son of God.” He is always called the “only begotten Son of God” because He is indeed Unique! One of a kind.

Angels and humans are called sons of God because God created them but only Jesus proceeds forth from the Heavenly Father as His Eternally Existing Only Begotten Son.

In the Bethlehem prophecy foretelling His birth in Micah 5:2, the scriptures say His “goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.”

  • We know He physically created and then visited with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.
  • He walked with Enoch and then took him to heaven. He instructed Noah on the building the ark.
  • He spoke with Abraham about Isaac’s coming birth, the destruction of Sodom, the sacrifice of Isaac and the future of his descendants.
  • He comforted Hagar and assured her concerning Ishmael’s future. He spoke “face to face” with Moses on many occasions.
  • He appeared to Joshua as Commander of the Lord’s Hosts. He announced the coming birth of Samson to Manoah’s wife and later to Manoah.
  • He has been going forth throughout history as Micah said.

Don’t you find it comforting that Jesus takes such an interest in His people? I certainly do! And He takes an interest in us because He loves us! We rejected Him but He still loves us and makes a way for us to return to fellowship with Him and live forever.

Knowing Jesus and accepting Him as Lord and Savior is the only way to gain eternal life.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 NKJV 

He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:18 NKJV 

Let me repeat: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 NKJV

Jesus, God’s only begotten Son,  invites you through His Word and His Spirit to be saved. I pray you will respond. May God’s grace and peace be with you and yours forever.

The Journey of Pastor Mike by David Gudeman

I just finished reading The Journey of Pastor Mike by David Gudeman.

It is the first novel in a series about the life of a Baptist minister known as Pastor Mike who finds himself in need of more “power” in his ministry and more “reality” in his relationship with God.

Having been a pastor’s wife for nearly 40 years, I could relate to the inner workings of the church world as described by the author. Mr. Gudeman did a great job of bringing the conflict and struggles born of spiritual warfare to life. His characters and their faith battles challenge and encourage the reader to a closer walk with God.

If you like to read novels with a Christian purpose, this is the book for you. It is not at all preachy or condemning. I found myself encouraged and singing spiritual songs between reading sessions. Pastor Mike’s journey leads the sincere follower of God to examine their own spiritual life and to become more open to personal growth and sharing the good news with others.

The Prince Shall Not Take the Inheritance of the People

Our Founding Fathers understood the importance of property rights far better than we do today. They knew that an individual could not be “free” without the right to own property. A free individual has a right to own what he has earned and/or inherited. All personal property, as well as land and money, must be at the disposal of a free man to use as he chooses or he is not free. A free man can accumulate wealth during his lifetime, or waste it, or give it to charity. And he can leave it to whomever he chooses when he dies.

Our Founding Fathers understood and fought for this Biblical truth based on God’s eternal Word. Unfortunately, envious, greedy, covetous men who have rejected God’s Word as a standard for living have tried to bury this truth through the years.

We have now reached a point, as a society, where the ungodly are comfortable publicly calling “evil good and good evil” so that “truth has fallen in the streets.” A leftist will encourage taking property from the rightful owners and giving it to others and call this “evil” behavior “good.” Then he will harass the rightful owners of property for expecting to dispose of it as they please and call this “good” behavior “evil.”

I saw this tactic on a news show recently. They were discussing Obama’s “class warfare” call for the rich to pay their “fair” share of taxes. Of course, no one really knows what a “fair” share is because the amount isn’t the point. The point is: A socialist government owns everything! And, as we are heading toward socialism, the rich should surrender ever increasing portions of their wealth so that Obama and his administration will have more funds to redistribute as they see fit. This socialist agenda is leftist justified covetousness! It is evil and God does not approve!

On the show I was watching, the conservative repeatedly asked the liberal, “How much do you want me to pay in taxes?” Finally, the liberal replied, “Oh, I guess 40 something percent.” She paused and then added, “And your children should have to work!” I couldn’t believe my ears.

This is “in your face” covetousness. What audacity! This is clearly an intent to abrogate our unalienable, God given right to the ownership of property which can be left to our children. Make no mistake, when we cannot leave our land, our possessions, and our money to our children; we are not free!

The moment the idea is admitted into society that property is not as sacred as the laws of God and that there is not a force of law and public justice to protect it, anarchy and tyranny commence. If “Thou shalt not covet,” and “Thou shalt not steal,” were not commandments of heaven, they must be made inviolable precepts in every society before it can be civilized or made free. (John Adams)

So, what does the Bible say about inheritance of property?

1. Inheritance is good: A good man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children… Pro 13:22

2. Government officials can distribute their own property but cannot take property from their subjects.

 “Thus says the Lord God: If the prince makes a gift to any of his sons as his inheritance, it shall belong to his sons. It is their property by inheritance.

The prince shall not take any of the inheritance of the people, thrusting them out of their property.

He (the prince) shall give his sons their inheritance out of his own property, so that none of my people shall be scattered from his property.” Ezekiel 46:16-18 excerpts

3. A citizen can rightly refuse to surrender his property to a government official.

“But Naboth said to (King) Ahab, the Lord forbid that I should give you the inheritance of my fathers.” 1 Kings 21:3

In this case, King Ahab wanted Naboth’s vineyard but could not “legally” take it from him. Naboth did what was right. He refused to give to the King property which was intended to be left to his family. So, Queen Jezebel hired false witnesses to accuse Naboth of blasphemy, had him killed, and took the land. The King and the Queen both sinned against Naboth by taking his property. (They later died under God’s judgement.)

God, in the Old Testament, clearly states that property inheritance is righteous in His eyes! It is good and not evil!

What about Jesus and His view of property inheritance recorded in the New Testament?

1. Property inheritance is a family matter. Someone in the crowd said to (Jesus),”Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” But he (Jesus) said to him, “Man, who made me a judge or arbitrator over you?”

This is an interesting exchange. A man wants Jesus to intervene in a family inheritance dispute, but instead of asking Jesus to hear the details of the dispute and make a righteous decision, the man tells Jesus how he wants Him to settle the dispute. The person demands half of the inheritance.

Whether the demand was fair or not, it was covetous, and Jesus refused to get involved. He would not encourage taking an inheritance away from a rightful heir, and He knew the brother making the demands had needs that couldn’t be met by mere possessions.

2. Covetousness Is Forbidden: And he (Jesus) said to them (the crowd), “Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Luke 12:13-15

Please notice that Jesus did not warn the crowd against receiving an inheritance. He turned to the crowd and warned them to avoid falling into the trap of the materialist outlook on life which caused the man to covet his brother’s inheritance. Jesus would never side with the Occupy Wall Street crowd.

Coming from a Biblically based perspective, I was surprised and shocked by the leftist’s covetous comments on the news program. But I suppose I shouldn’t be. If I had a godless perspective I might see the world as they see it. If there was no God I might want to lean on the government too, and I’m glad that’s not the case.

There is a God! Everything we have comes from God! He owns “the cattle on a thousand hills” and He blesses our lives from His abundance as He sees fit. It is, therefore, unwise to look to one’s neighbor or to the government to provide what only God can rightfully supply. While covetousness leads to a curse, trusting in God brings His blessings. But, alas, the left doesn’t see it that way.

President Obama and his fellow travelers are trying to convince Americans that government can replace God. They want us to believe that the government can, and should, meet our needs. Yes, they tell us we have a right to expect unearned benefits from the government. And, they even think they know what those benefits should include (and are willing to force them on us). This is a dangerous deception!

Think about it: God blesses us from His unlimited resources and expects no repayment. The government, on the other hand, promises some Americans a portion of the resources it takes from their neighbors while it loads the country with debt. Consider, if the government confiscated all the wealth of the 1% in the USA today, they couldn’t even repay a third of the 16+ trillion dollars they’ve already spent in our name, much less continue to support all of those currently on the dole.

The government did not create us and cannot sustain us. Not just because it lacks the wealth required but because our needs are not simply material; they are spiritual! The “ghost” in our machine needs far more sustenance than can be grown in, or gathered from a secular, collective garden.

We need more than food, clothes and housing. We need love, grace, mercy, fellowship, forgiveness, healing, restoration and ultimately eternal salvation. Our true needs can only be met in relationship with our heavenly Father. Only He knows and can meet our deepest needs.

And, our deepest needs do not include free contraception! This Obama policy is not about women. It is about population control. By insisting on free drugs to block conception or to kill the newly conceived life of American babies this administration is hoping to more rapidly change the ideological complexion of this nation. When Americans quit replacing themselves and enough emigrants arrive we can kiss our freedoms goodbye.

That free pill comes with an exorbitant hidden price tag. And, the upfront price appears to be an assault on the freedom of religion. It is a no brainer that churches cannot currently be legally forced to provide drugs which violate their teachings about life! That would hinder the “free exercise” of religion as guaranteed in the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution which says, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

And, since Obama knows his policy is unconstitutional, making an issue of forcing it anyway must be a deliberate assault on the constitution and freedom of religion. What else can it be? He swore to “uphold and defend the constitution” but he is not doing so. I hope American voters will take this seriously.

And now, back on topic, the only financial hope for our country and the world is to stop thinking life consists of an abundance of possessions and to turn back to God. He is all we need! He will supply all our needs as we refuse to covet our neighbor’s property and put our trust in Him.

Our true right of inheritance is eternal. It is provided by Jesus to all who put their trust in Him alone for salvation. If you sense Him knocking at your heart’s door, please open the door and ask Him in.

“Now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”  Acts 20:32

Thank God for the Crusades

Before I began educating myself about the Crusades, I was dismayed by the derogatory narratives of Western civilization produced by modern secularists. I found their “politically correct” assaults on Christianity, the Crusades and the “Dark Ages” appalling. The allegation that people of the Christian faith flippantly instigated and executed a series of bloody wars against innocent Muslims for ignoble reasons is ludicrous and is not based on the historical facts. Also, the claim that the Catholic Church and the Bible caused centuries of superstitious ignorance is equally unfounded in reality.

Do I think religious people are perfect? No. Am I saying individuals in the Catholic Church did no wrong? Of course not. But bashing everyone involved in the Crusades and condemning the entire process because mistakes were made and sins were committed by some is both ignorant and entirely unreasonable.

In response, we must discern and disseminate the truth.

So, let’s consider the Crusades as documented by Rodney Stark in God’s Battalions. “Western condemnations of the Crusades were widespread during the “Enlightenment,” that utterly misnamed era during which French and British intellectuals invented the “Dark Ages” in order to glorify themselves and vilify the Catholic Church. Hence, Voltaire (1694-1778) called the Crusades an “epidemic of fury which lasted two hundred years and which was marked by every cruelty, every perfidy, every debauchery, and every folly of which human nature is capable.”

Modern day anti-Crusade charges made by Westerners have grown from these intellectual seedbeds. Voltaire and other religiously disgruntled European intellectuals dismissed God’s rightful claim as the Creator and Lord of the universe and recast historical events to advance their ungodly beliefs. Hoping to permanently undercut religious faith, these “Enlightenment” erudites willfully blackened the reputation of all the Crusaders and literally created the myth of the Dark Ages to express their animosity toward God, the Bible and the Catholic Church.

For those of you surprised to hear that the so-called “superstitious” ideas of the Bible and its so-called “anti-science” followers did not plunge the world into 300 hundred of years of intellectual darkness, I recommend God’s Battalions to you for further study. Rodney Stark does an excellent job of describing what life was really like during the Middle Ages. (The Son/sun continued to shine during those centuries! :-) But, let’s get back to the Crusades.

The Crusades, as most of us know, were a series of religious campaigns carried out by European Bible believers between 1095 and 1291 A.D. to take back control of the Holy Land from the Muslims. They were led by Kings and knights who mostly went for the right reasons.

Although the “politically correct” crowd today delights in denigrating the Western world via the Catholic Church, which, according to their perspective, made unjustified forays against innocent Muslims, Mr. Stark says, “…the Crusades were precipitated by Islamic provocations: by centuries of bloody attempts to colonize the West and by sudden new attacks on Christian pilgrims and holy places.”

The Crusades were not undertaken on a whim! They were responses to pleas from Christians in the Levant; and, amazingly, they were mostly undertaken by individuals at their own expense. Many participants mortgaged their property or outright sold all they had to undertake the journey and many, of course, lost their lives in the process.

So, why did they go? Some went in response to the Pope’s call to help their fellow believers. Some went in personal obedience to God; others went for penance; and some went for adventure. But, the main reason the Crusaders went was a genuine desire to rescue Jerusalem and Christian holy sites from Islamic control and to make the area safe for Christian pilgrims to visit those sites. They willingly paid the price because they believed it was worthy goal.

Again, Mr. Stark says: “The Crusades were not unprovoked. Muslim efforts at conquest and colonization still continued in the eleventh century (and for centuries to come). Pilgrims did risk their lives to go to the Holy Land. The sacred sites of Christianity were not secure. And the knights of Christendom were confident that they could put things right.”

If you are paying attention, you can’t help but notice that Muslim efforts at conquest and colonization continue around the world today. Israel is under constant threat from Islam. Muslims continue to control and even destroy Jewish and Christian holy sites; such as, the Tomb of Joseph in Shechem in 2010. They continue their “efforts at conquest and colonization” around the world. And they continue to slaughter Christians and others in the process.

Of the Muslim conquests, Mr. Stark says: “…it all started…in the seventh century, when Islamic armies swept over the larger portion of what was then Christian territory: the Middle East, Egypt and all of north Africa, and then Spain and southern Italy, as well as many major Mediterranean islands including Sicily, Corsica, Cyprus, Rhodes, Crete, Malta, and Sardinia.”

It’s time to get the facts right and set the record straight. It is time to stop apologizing for our Western culture and values. The Crusaders were imperfect individuals. Some of them committed atrocities and some engaged in other behavior we find unacceptable today; however, before we judge their actions we should seek to understand the treachery they experienced, the dangers they faced and the rules of warfare governing their behavior.

Truthfully, we should pause and be thankful for the sacrifices the Crusaders made which have helped shape the modern world. For, though they may have failed to achieve their original goals in the Middle East, their efforts kept the Muslims from invading Europe for over two hundred years. So, if not for the Crusades, Europe may have been Islamized centuries ago and the USA might never have existed!

End Republic or Restore America?

Our Founding Fathers were some of the wisest men of their generation. And, their wisdom was not just limited to writing The Declaration of Independence and leading us to victory in the Revolutionary War. They also crafted The Constitution and The Bill of Rights as the foundational documents of our limited federal government and saw to it that, Under God, our nation got off to a good start.

But starting good was not enough. They wanted this nation to endure and it was obvious to them it wouldn’t occur by happenstance. The lifespan of this democratic Republic would depend on the  lifestyle choices of the American people. Benjamin Franklin warned that our nation would only endure if the American people lived moral lives based on ethical principles such as those found in the Bible. He said, “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom.”

This virtue he spoke of is the producer of the happiness referred to by Thomas Jefferson in The Declaration of Independence.  

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal,  that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

Thomas Jefferson, speaking for all the founding fathers, claimed to be declaring established truths clearly revealed by the Creator God. These truths were so clearly revealed he called them self-evident! That means they require no proof, explanation or argument. One has to be blind not to see them and dishonest not to acknowledge them. So, what are these truths?

I.  All men are created equal. (Men should have been stated as “individuals” because it includes all human beings without distinction, but prejudices die slowly. Equality of value does not ensure equal giftedness, equal opportunities, or equal lifestyles. God rules over men and circumstances.)

II. All men are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights. (Unalienable Rights are supernatural gifts from God which cannot legitimately or ultimately be sold, surrendered or taken by mortal man or governments. Yet, if these Rights be temporarily stolen by men, they are safe in God!)

    A.  These Rights include but are not limited to: Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

  • The Right to Life is self-evident. Life originates with the Creator God. And, in all their attempts to uncover any other origin of life, evolutionists have failed, because life comes from God!  And yet, the Supreme Court of the United States authorized mortal women the “right” to deny “Immortal Unborn Individuals” their “God-given Unalienable Right to Life” in this world. We must understand they still have eternal life and God will make things right in due time.
  • The Right to Liberty is self-evident.  All individuals were created in the image of God and given a free will. To exercise this free will man was given a free mind, a free body, opportunity for freely entering relationships, acquiring wealth, land and possessions, etc. Law abiding individuals have a right to live free, and no one has the right to take another person’s property, or to compel another person to go against his own conscience. Of course, God desires moral living, as it is best and leads to blessings. A man may forfeit physical freedom by egregious behavior.
  • The Right to Pursue Happiness is self-evident.  God is Good! He enjoys LIFE! He gave us life, in His image, and liberty so we could pursue the same happiness He enjoys due to His Goodness.  The colonists understood that liberty could only be maintained when happiness was pursued by virtuous means. They were not looking for a license to do evil. They wanted freedom to do what was right, as they saw fit, according to the light from God’s Word that shined on their paths. They had come to this country for religious freedom, not for freedom from religion.  

Unfortuantely, things have changed in the USA through the years. New generations arose that had not  experienced religious persecution, or fought for religious freedom, and complacency set in.As Jesus foretold, Satan stoled the Word from the shallow minded, hard times drove others away from the faith, and the distraction of worldly cares and pleasures kept many from effectively promoting godly faith as the preservative of society. The salt lost much of its flavor and the light became less bright.

This spiritual vacuum in society left an opening for secular humanists to take over our school systems and colleges and undermine the faith of many young people who hadn’t been grounded in the truth of the Bible during their formative years. History was revised to deny the godly foundation of our country and evolution replaced Creationism in our centers of learning. As a result, many people forgot that happiness cannot be attained without virtue.

Under these conditions the liberal media, educators, judiciary and legislators managed to wreak havoc in our nation. By undermining religion and moral values, they began to rob us of our Unalienable Rights. After all, if there is no Creator God, our Rights have no originator, or guarantor.

So, the liberals offered us relativism to replace Christian morals. They suggested petitioning social workers for help with problems instead of praying. And, they were quite sure the government could fill the role of God. Yes, socialism would be much better than capitalism. Just get on the public dole!

Americans, who had been born and bred for independence and self-reliance, with help from God and kind neighbors, began to allow themselves to become addicted to government aid. And, it wasn’t free. It came at the cost of broken homes, forsaken dreams, and lost liberty!

We are at a crossroad. We can either allow the wealthiest nation this world has ever known to become the likes of Socialist Russia or we can stand up for what’s right in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Reject O-merica!  Let’s “Restore America” in this next election!

Omnipotent God or Omnipotent State

For those among us who are still wondering what’s at stake in this election, I have some quotes to share with you that may help bring some clarity to your thinking.

It has been crystal clear for some time now that President Obama is a socialist ideologue. His advisors, his financial backers, and his policies all reveal his intentions for this nation. He is corrupting our democracy to change our nation from a Democratic Republic based on capitalism to a Socialist State.

His “concern” for college students, African Americans, middle income earners, the unemployed, the underemployed, the weak, the needy, the immigrants, the unions, and the government workers, is actually a concern for votes.

If you think those votes will usher in a utopian socialist system, read on. The following quote sounds like the reasoning behind the Occupy Wall Street movement. (I’m guessing most of the protestors don’t know whose steps they are following as they turn against the most prosperous economic system in the world and clamor for the “fairness and equality” of serfdom.)

With the twisted and deceptive argument above, Hitler took a capitalistic, democratic nation with the motto, Gott Mit Uns (God With Us), and changed it into a Totalitarian Socialist State.  And, please remember, he didn’t end up supporting the weak, he eliminated them. But, to Germany, he brought change!

We need true patriots in office today. Men and women who will work for the good of the country like our Founding Fathers did. Leaders who understand they are accountable to God for the outcomes of the political decisions they make.

We can’t turn the clock back, but we can get ourselves back on the right track by putting our trust back in God and electing godly leaders. We must resolve to restore the ancient landmarks that set boundaries for our families and our country based on faith in God.

As Bob Dylan’s song, Gotta Serve Somebody, said,

Our country is in a mess. We need God’s help! I agree with King David of ancient Israel when he said,  “I am in deep distress. Let me fall into the hands of the LORD, for his mercy is very great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men.” 1 Chron 21:13

So let me ask you,
“Do you wanna serve an Omnipotent God
or an Omnipotent State?”

You Shall Not Covet or Occupy Wall Street

“… there exists… in the human heart a depraved taste for equality, which impels the weak to attempt to lower the powerful to their own level and reduces men to prefer equality in slavery to inequality with freedom.”   Alexis de Tocqueville, Democracy in America (Ch 3, 56) 

As you know, we are living in volatile times. Some are currently calling it pre-revolutionary. As the picture illustrates, Occupy Wall Street protesters are out sharing their bleak, distorted picture of the future based on the class warfare message that President Obama and his anti-American, socialist partners have given them.

Another sign I saw read, “Where’s our bailout?” Pure socialism! While it is just to protest bank bailouts and the entire immoral “Too Big to Fail” policy. It is not okay to expect the government, using taxpayer money, to support all American citizens, whether they work or not, from cradle to grave.

Freedom and the Nanny State cannot co-exist! And, in spite of the Utopian dreams, the Nanny State can only hope to offer an impoverished equality among the 99% of its enslaved subjects. No middle class! No hope for change! But these sign bearers don’t get it.

We must ask ourselves how much our freedom is worth? Many have already paid for it with their lives! Will we sell ourselves and our children into slavery for the hopes of a piece of bread?

As for me, give me “freedom with inequality” as we have it now! We need change, but not the kind that’s being forced on us by President Obama and his backers. We need to return to righteousness!

The Bible says, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge, I also will reject you from being My priest. Since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.” Hosea 4:6

America is founded on Christian principles. God wants us to be a nation of priests for Him. People who know Him and His commandments which under gird progress and prosperity, providing abundant life for those willing to responsibly participate in civic life!

He birthed our nation in freedom through godly and courageous founding fathers who developed God-inspired documents proclaiming and legally ensuring our God-given unalienable rights!

Yes, our founding fathers and the earlier generations of this great nation had godly knowledge. They built their lives and our nation’s foundations solidly on their personal understanding of the Bible as God’s Holy Word. From young children they knew the 10 Commandments.

The Bible was freely read and used for instruction in our schools and colleges. Godly knowledge filled the land and the nation prospered. And, that’s when de Tocqueville visited America and attributed her greatness to her goodness! (What would he say now?)

But, slowly, secular humanists began rewriting our history and taking over our public schools which were started primarily to teach our nation’s children how to read the Bible so they would be virtuous citizens.

Secular humanists rejected godly knowledge and used ungodly judges to twist our founding documents to forbid the very Bible those documents are based on from being used in our schools.

Secular humanists began to lead many people back into spiritual darkness. By forbidding the posting of The 10 Commandments and banning prayer in schools, they left teachers and students afloat in troubled seas, in a morally rudderless boat, without a compass. And this “unguided” boat swiftly drifted into dangerous waters; so that, now we must work to ban guns instead of chewing gum from our schools!

This lack of moral guidance led to the tragic shooting of an eighth grade student in Brownsville, Texas this week. I wonder how many of the 10 Commandments that young man knew? Knowledge matters!

Those who still know the 10 Commandments know that the Occupy Wall Street movement is wrong, even if our president doesn’t. The 1% being used as a political scapegoat cannot carry our sins away or even pay our bills for us! We, as individuals and as a nation, need to return to God!

“You shall not covet your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor. Exodus 20:17

 Occupy Wall Street, while accusing some of greed, is squarely based on covetousness (wanting what belongs to your neighbor), which God’s word says is a sin! And, it is not the way to get our nation back on the right track and to secure the renewed blessings of liberty in our land.

As Paul said in Romans 7:7, “I would never have known that coveting is wrong if the law had not said, “You must not covet.”

Well, if you didn’t know, now you do. So, “Go and sin no more.” 

Equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome, is provided in a free country. It does no good to demand rights! If we want to retain our freedom, we must repent of our sins and do what is right.

Thou Shalt Not Covet or Occupy Wall Street!

Islam and Destruction

While the scholars still debate over who destroyed the ancient Library of Alexandria, modern events continue to mock them. If only their “enlightened”  eyes could see, it would be obvious that wherever Islam goes, destruction is His companion. But, western “intellectuals” can’t be bothered with reality.

The tragic Christmas Eve and Christmas Day church bombings in Nigeria come to mind. The jihadis in Nigeria won’t stop until they take over Nigeria or someone stops them.  This ungodly slaughter and destruction has gone on in one country after another for over 1400 years now. Two million people have lost their lives in Sudan in the past 50 years and jihad continues in Sudan, Tunisia, Nigeria, Libya, Somalia, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Israel, and all around the world. Individuals and entire cultures are perishing.

On December 17, 2011, whether by accident or on purpose, a Muslim mob destroyed the Institute of Egypt, founded by Napoleon in 1798. Maintained for the purpose of advancing scientific research, it contained around 192,000 books and documents from as far back as the 1500s. Now, it’s gone.

For those of us who wondered how the Alexandrian Library could have perished and why no one stopped it, now we know because we see.

And, now the Salifist Islamists have bigger targets. They actually want to make the pyramids disappear! It’s beyond my comprehension.


Can you imagine the pyramids and the sphinx covered in wax? Egyptian tour guides aren’t too happy about the Islamic Salifist’s desire to remove or hide Egypt’s ancient pyramids and other artifacts. Why else would one visit Egypt?

The foundational teachings of a society matter. Beliefs manifest in actions. Even the most secularized nations of the West still benefit from the Judeo-Christian teachings its society was based on. Faith, hope and love undergird us and the greatest of these is Love! We believe in the future. We long for peace. We desire to be a blessing to all the peoples of the world.

“Put away your sword,” Jesus told (Peter) him. “Those who use the sword will die by the sword.” (Matthew 26:52)

Although Gandhi was a great man, his peaceful methods didn’t make the British leave India. Jesus, through their Christianized response to Gandhi, did.

People in western societies who never open the Bible are shaped to some degree by the Christian values that have permeated the West for over 2000 years now.

In contrast, one sees the Islamic societies based on the Koranic teachings of conquest. Fighting is prescribed for you, and ye dislike it. But it is possible that ye dislike a thing which is good for you, and that ye love a thing which is bad for you. But Allah knoweth, and ye know not.”  Koran 2:216

There is no peace within Muslim countries or between them and the rest of the world. Beliefs matter. That’s why Islam and destruction go hand in hand.
