God’s Approval

A warm September evening
in Belleville, Illinois. It was
in my front yard on Taft Street,
in Mike’s blue Chevy pick-up truck.

We sat and talked, embracing,
exchanging precious thoughts of love,
wrapped up in all those feelings
lovers get from God above.

Like any other evening;
familiar, and yet different.
For as we held each other
a new thing happened in it.

Enveloped, as we were, in love,
it seemed quite natural, not odd,
that spirits could be intertwined,
we, be as one with God!

It was a special blessing,
a time not wanting end.
But with jobs and duties calling,
Mike had to leave and I went in.

It was unique, in fact, quite rare–
or, so it seems to all our friends.
But to us it was a sign from God,
approval only He could send!
