Friendship is like a rosebush.
It has much to offer you,
A perfumed array of flowers
Delightful to smell and view.
And it has a way of telling you
If you quickly take too much,
That roses can’t be simply snatched
For thorns guard them from such.
If you’ll reach slowly, gently,
You can pick of all you see.
But friend, I tell you truly,
For each petal, a thorn there’ll be.
So, if you’ll share its beauties,
Just be mindful, as it warns.
You may have abundant flowers
If you’re careful of the thorns.
